Debra Serafin

Debra Serafin is a professional educator with 35 years combined experience as a Teacher, building
level Supervisor, Assistant Principal and District Level Supervisor for Curriculum and Instruction. She
graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education,
received her Master's of Business Administration from Monmouth College, and continued her post
Master's education in the Doctoral Program of Educational Leadership at Rowan University. Debra
has extensive experience in curriculum and instruction, development of smaller learning communities
and academies, implementation of Personalized Student Learning Plans, establishment of on-line
credit recovery programs, mentoring administrative interns, and grant writing. Throughout her years
as a school administrator, she has facilitated professional learning communities and action research
teams, used data analysis for school improvement, developed formative, summative and benchmark
assessments, and been a facilitator for secondary school reform initiatives. A visionary leader, Debra
has been instrumental in being a change agent in school districts in order to improve programs and
move educational progress forward. Debra has implemented new courses to meet the needs of
students and instituted teacher and peer mentor advisory programs in order to help students connect
with their school community. She has done numerous presentations throughout the state on a variety
of topics. Her workshops are interactive, informative, and practical for immediate implementation.
