Michelle Stone has over 15 years of teaching experience in New York City and Long Island Public Schools. Herreading and writing workshops were visited by teachersacross districts as a model for balanced literacy instruction. She shared her passion for best practices by leading professional development workshops and served as a lab site host for professional development from the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project of Columbia University. Michelle attended monthly workshops and summer institutes at Teachers College, where she also participated in yearlong leadership groups contributing to the development of units of study, literacy practices, and research.
She has been working as a Literacy Consultant since 2010 and supports administrators, coaches and teachers nationally in the area of balanced literacy and the implementation of reading and writing workshops. Michelle holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Business, Masters of Science in Elementary Education, and Special Education Extension.
