Jody Polleck

Currently, Jody Polleck is a literacy coach for a small, progressive high school in New York City. She is also a teacher-educator for both undergraduate and graduate students at the Steinhardt School of Education at New York University. In 2003, she received a full-fellowship to NYU, where she has just completed two years of her doctoral work in English education. She is currently conducting her research on using bibliotherapy in small group settings with adolescents and young adult literature. Previously, she worked as a high school reading and English teacher for struggling and reluctant readers in a dropout prevention program. Before this experience, she spent two years as an outreach counselor for runaway teenagers in Washington, DC. Jody attended University of Maryland-College Park, majoring in journalism and English with a minor in women’s studies. In 1999, she received her master’s at University of South Florida in English education. In 2002, she received National Board Certification. In addition to teaching, Jody has trained teachers at the district, state, and national level and has developed several regional curriculum guides for reading, English, and social studies.
