Judy Davis

Judy Davis taught in the New York City Public School system for thirty years. From 1993 to 2003, she taught elementary and middle school grades at the Manhattan New School. She has worked closely with Lucy Calkins and Shelley Harwayne at the Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Project. Judy has conducted workshops and institutes throughout the United States and Canada on all aspects of the reading and writing workshop for teachers in grades 3 – 8. Her classroom was a model site for staff development for elementary and middle school teachers in District 2 in New York City, as well as from other areas surrounding the city. Currently, she is consulting throughout New York City, Westchester, New Jersey, Long Island and Connecticut. Judy works directly with Reading Specialists and Literacy Coaches, principals and teachers. Her work involves demonstration lessons, workshop presentations, and assessing student work to develop of units of study tailored to individual school and district needs. She is the co-author of The No-Nonsense Guide to Teaching Writing, published by Heinemann. |
