Before becoming an educational consultant, Samantha Passo was an elementary school
classroom teacher. During her teaching tenure, she received extensive
training from the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project. Her
classroom was often a lab site for staff developers, as well as a model
classroom for other teachers. As a Teacher of the Year award recipient,
Samantha demonstrated her commitment to excellence in the classroom by
meeting the rigorous and challenging standards set forth by the NBPTS when
she became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2006.
Samantha has presented workshops to large groups of teachers on topics
related to literacy. Samantha has also worked with smaller groups of
teachers where she is able to tailor instruction based on teachers' needs.
She often goes into schools for the day and spends time with different
grades levels. During this time, Samantha presents demonstrative lessons,
assists in unit planning and coaches teachers in the improvement of
instructional practices.
Samantha uses hands-on experiences, authentic student samples and effective
modeling techniques to provide a thorough and informational experience for
participants. She draws from current research and her own classroom
experiences to instruct in the knowledge of good classroom practices.
